Police charge two with gunfire on Savin Hill; say officers stopped them before they could flee on the subway
Boston Police report arresting two men for firing guns on Auckland Street around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Responding officers found one of the suspects, Ashawda Nelson, 19, of Quincy, inside the Savin Hill Red Line stop, police say:
Upon seeing the suspect, officers promptly ordered the suspect to the ground. A pat frisk of the suspect enabled officers to see and take possession of a firearm. When asked to produce a license to carry, the suspect stated, "I don’t have one."
The second suspect, Niccokawon Pledger-Grant, 21, of Dorchester, was found nearby, policy say.
Both were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and carrying a loaded firearm. Nobody was reported injured.
The Savin Hill T stop is where a local man was shot to death on May 7.
