Please don't tell my wife, who got her very first CharlieCard today because she had to go down to Chinatown to get a new registration sticker for her front license plate, the one that used to be her rear license plate until one of Boston's Finest informed her she was breaking the law because all the red paint has come off the letters and numbers, which necessitated a trip to the dealership's collision center, since the gas station couldn't unscrew the plates to put the front one on the rear, and yes, this is one of those stories that just goes on and on, but at least she was in and out of the Registry in about 10 minutes, so she was able to spend some time fabric shopping in Chinatown. Oh, she reports the customer-service agent at Forest Hills, who gave her the card, was nice and professional. However, she was not at all impressed when I told her how you could open a Charlie gate with your butt, especially since she only put enough "stored value" on it to get to Chinatown and back.
I added $59 for a monthly pass to my card earlier this month. I've noticed that if I hold it up to the 'reader' just any ol' way, it doesn't read properly (unlike my much flimsier security badge at work, that will read through my backpack and doesn't care whether my card is backwards or upside down).
The only way my card will scan properly is to hold it so that the front of the card is facing the targe, and that the end with the small orange numbers at the bottom of the card are close to the reader.

It's horrible to have to pay $15 more for a bus system I don't even use b/c the buses never run but if I do, I expect a better system. Instead what I get is the same error message of "Not Enough Value." $59 is not enough value? Do you want to charge me $2,000 everytime I ride the T? Not only that, but the lovely MBTA charged my credit card twice! You'd think for a double charge, it would at least work once.
This is by far the worst system I've ever encountered, and I've traveled to many cities and always use public transit.

Yet another one bites the dust
Spatch must've worn his out with all that butt-opening of Charlie gates.

The card is wicked sensitive
