Smoker brings firetrucks to Mass. Eye and Ear
By adamg on Thu, 12/18/2014 - 3:24pm
Shortly after 2 p.m., fire alarms started going off at the Mass. Eye and Ear Infirmary and that, of course, brought a full complement of Boston firetrucks racing to the scene. The infirmary informs:
Code red (fire) called due to someone apparently smoking outside. Another good reason to quit that habit. All clear.

Did they get a ticket?
Probably not.

In a perfect world smokers
In a perfect world smokers would be held accountable for all the fires they start and littering they do.
This smoker did not start a
This smoker did not start a fire. Many people litter every day, hardly just smokers. there are litter laws in place, if you are against littering perhaps an awareness campaign and better enforcement would be in order. An increase in public ashtrays would also be a big help- smokers were kicked outdoors and not provided outdoor ashtrays in most cases.
How about you stop playing
How about you stop playing the victim and just stub your cigarette out on the side of a trash can before you toss it in. Please don't use the excuse that it could cause a fire, that would only provide evidence that smokers are too lazy and careless to properly extinguish a fire the size of a pencil tip.
"If you smoke...
"I will assume you are on fire and take appropriate measures."
They were smoking outside,
They were smoking outside, time for everyone to relax. Nothing to see here
Still not okay
Remember that building in Danvers that went up because somebody was smoking outside?
Also, consider this: air intakes. These are not always on the roof.
There are reasons that hospitals ban smoking inside and outside their buildings on their property.
Do you think about air
Do you think about air intakes when you start up the engine to that car you drive?
One cigarette in open air does not a health hazard make.
She probably does
She works in air pollution and health science.
Sidewalks Outside Hospitals Seem To Always Have The Most Smokers
The Boston "Smoking Ban" is backwards. Smokers should go off to a park where they won't bother as many people as they do smoking on public sidewalks.
