Shaun Harrison has long had an interest in guns

Although until this week, most people thought it was an interest in getting guns away from teenagers.

In 2006, Harrison was an active participant in a high-profile city gun buyback program, in which people could turn in guns, no questions asked, and get a Target gift card.

Jed Hresko, who also worked on the campaign, forwards these photos of Harrison, who is now charged with trying to gun down a teenager who police say had been dealing pot for him. Harrison, it turns out, was a member of a gun group and advocated for gun lessons and competitions in Boston schools, may face additional charges for the weapons and drugs police say they found in his apartment.

In July of that year, the city ended the buyback program with a ceremony at BPD headquarters to announce the purchase of 1,000 guns. Harrison gave an introduction for Menino (video requires RealPlayer).
