Boston Restaurant Talk reports a developer has purchased the building at A and West 2 that houses Williams Tavern and My Diner and that, of course, its plans do not include keeping those two places open.
Thats a bummer but par for the course in that area.
Spent a good deal of time at both establishments a year or so ago when I dating someone down the street. Great diner and amazing bar, you can even order breakfast from the Diner, at the bar!!
I recall a few nights being in there and chatting with the owners, real great couple, I think even the kids might have been helping out? But they were so nice, loved to chat about where you were from, what brought you to Southie that evening, dat da da da da.
Williams' Tavern is a ghost town. Such potential but it lost whatever charm it had left after they remodeled it a few years back. They just never seemed able to capitalize on the boom of Fort Point.
My Diner is pretty consistently great, and the prices are ridiculously cheap. It's always packed and the food there has always been better than the other brunch options in the area (and 1/3 the price). Will be really sad to see this place go.
Separately, the folks at Williams Tavern are nice but it never seems to be open (Boston problems).
That's true. I was comparing it to Stephi's/etc. Really not a fan of Mul's the couple times I've been there, especially after having the food from My Diner.

No real loss

And My Diner was always average at best.

Come on...
My Diner is solid, but 1/3 of the price?? Walk a block to Mul's. A western omelette at my diner is $6.75. A western at Mul's is $7.50.

Mul's vs My Diner
I much preferred My Diner. Faster & less crowded than Mul's, plus bigger coffee mugs.
Williams has cheap beer and
Williams has cheap beer and friendly people. Mul's is best breakfast in town. Galley Diner legit too
