Veteran charged with Worcester armory break-in; evidence includes data from GPS bracelet he was wearing

The Herald reports the arrest down on Long Island of James Walker Morales, 34, on charges he used a power saw and pry bar to cut into an Army armory in Worcester to steal ten handguns and six rifles - two days after he visited the armory to obtain copies of his Army discharge papers.
According to an FBI affidavit, investigators connected Morales to the break-in by submitting DNA from blood he left behind to an FBI DNA database.
Morales was out on bail on a child-rape indictment in Middlesex County. Data from the GPS device places Morales at the armory at the time of the break-in, the affidavit says.

Observation and a wish
Observation: Candidate for stupid criminal awards. Very glad they caught him, but does not seem he made it very hard to do.
I also wish I had the contract for Armory arms-room ceiling re-enforcement. I imagine business is booming this week.
D'oh!
I literally laughed out loud when I read he cut off his GPS leg bracelet AFTER the robbery...
PTSD
Child rape, robbery - maybe his Army service ruined his mind. Though I don't have all the background.
Correction
With regard to PTSD? You don't have ANY of the background.
Giant leap....
I guess anything is possible. And I'm sure his lawyer will explore your theory. But it's massive speculation, and borderline irresponsible to connect military service* to these crimes.
Edit: * That is, other than generally knowing specifically where the arms-room is located.
You know nothing about PTSD
PTSD has NOTHING to do with child rape.
Except for maybe the child.
Except for maybe the child.

Maybe he's a space alien, and who are we to judge space aliens? You can't disprove that either!
