Police arrest three in Hyde Park for Mattapan carjacking
Boston Police report arresting three men they say pushed a driver out of his car at gunpoint at River and Violante streets near Mattapan Square last night.
Police say the victim somehow made his way down to Fairmount Avenue and Truman Parkway in Hyde Park, where, around 9:45 p.m., he flagged down an officer on routine patrol. Police say the officer found the victim's car several blocks away in an alley off Truman Parkway near Neponset Avenue - with three guys inside:
Upon seeing the officer approaching, the three suspects simultaneously exited the vehicle and fled on foot through nearby backyards. The officer pursued one of the suspects on foot, later identified as Joquentz Constant, 21, of Dorchester, and placed him in custody in the area of 11 Williams Avenue with the assistance of additional responding units. Officers then set a perimeter while BPD K-9 Duke arrived on scene and began to search for the two remaining suspects. Duke soon located, Marckenley Casimir, 27, of Mattapan and Hermano Joseph, 27, of Randolph, hiding on a deck in the rear of 755 Truman Parkway at which time they were placed in custody without further incident.
Police say officers found the victim's property as well as a fake gun allegedly used in the carjacking. All three were charged with carjacking, armed robbery and kidnapping. Casimir was already wanted on Suffolk Superior Court warrants changing him with armed assault to rob and assault with a dangerous weapon, police say. In 2014, he was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in jail for a Roslindale housebreak.
Innocent, etc.
