The B line runs along Comm Ave from BU East all the way out to Boston College - where does it "cross" the avenue?

Yes, it crosses the intersection where Brighton Avenue joins Comm. Ave. Wording changed.

There's the Warren Street intersection where it crosses the outbound lanes of Comm Ave to get from between the carriage lane and the outbound lanes to go between the 2 main lanes.

Yeah, I thought of that, but even that's not really what I would think of as "crossing Comm Ave." Plus it's not at Packard's Corner.

I made the same mistake myself in the 1990's. I backed up and went on my way, but it punctured a hole in the exhaust. Until I got it fixed, the fresh air intake was fumey whenever the fan was on and the car was not moving.
Driving onto the B line tracks has to be more common than Storrowing. It should have a name.
I agree on having a name for the action...

Yep, there are close calls all the time. There used to be a bollard at the very end of the outbound platform to try to guide drivers into the carriage road lane, but cars kept hitting the bollard, so they decided to remove it. Now people waiting for an outbound streetcar are at risk of getting mowed down by idiots like this who ignore the giant swath of yellow paint marking the end of the platform.

I don't know about today, but in the past the intersection had a mix of faded paint, bumpy, patchy asphalt with crisscrossed rails, and dim lighting. When it was night and the ground was wet, you absolutely could not see the right way to go. You would cross your fingers and pray you're driving the right way when turning the corner.

I thought that was the point of bollards? To warn attentive drivers away from whatever-it-is, and to have less-than-attentive drivers hit the bollard instead of a pedestrian, train, other car, get hung on the tracks, etc.
And if a car hits a bollard, I would hope that the cleanup and recovery is faster and easier than a car getting stuck on the train tracks, or hitting something else.

I hate to feed the Kinopio like trolls, but honestly, this sort of BS is why I a.) sold my car a week into moving to Boston back in the late 80s b.) never got a MA driver's license / didn't get upset when my DL from a Much More Competent at Driving State's license didn't get renewed about five years back.
