Sudo Shoes is the place in Porter Square. They do sell good quality vegan "leather" belts. I wear mine almost every day and have for quite a few years and it's still in excellent shape.

"Synthetic" isn't really vegan since petrol is really old decomposed animals.

Sarcasm. I think the original question looking for a vegan belt may be sarcasm too, but who knows.
Btw, does anyone know where I can find vegan t.p. for my bunghole?

To be vegan a product needs to be plant based. NOT synthetic. That's the point!

Just means that it didn't exploit animals, at least according to my vegan friends and relatives.
The "rules" for clothing (depending on who you ask, of course) are a bit different than the preferred eating patterns. Most vegans will wear nylon and other synthetics. Some include upcycled synthetics, like recycled billboard and decal pieces or tire tubes, for accessories.

Just by chance I bought what I thought was a leather bag at Marshalls yesterday and only when I got home did I see it had a "vegan" label, but no specifics on the actual materials. I assume the metal buckle and studs are real metal- is metal considered vegan?
absolutely not.

To be vegan, a product needs to not be made of anything derived from animals.

...petroleum derivatives like polyester, nylon, etc etc are not vegan. They are derived from a mix of dead plants and animals, large a small that died millions of years ago. So those vegan belts... they may not exist.

The creatures that died for our oil weren't farmed or penned for it - and most of them were plants anyway.

I'm not a vegan, but the ethic, as I understand it, is to avoid doing things that result in animal cruelty or exploitation. That may not be something that matters to you, but surely you can see how clothing choice could be the result of one's ethics (for example, buying fair trade). It's really not that bizarre a concept to act according to one's ethics.

The people that rush to call vegans smug tend to be more obnoxious than the very people they're seeking to denigrate. It's a common trope.
