That guy has been around for years and years as a street performer. His name is Kevin McNamara. He generally plays children's music and has little percussion instruments and shake toys for children to play along. I used to see him at Faneuil Hall but he hasn't been there in a while. I found this:

Is he the one that sings "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" on game days? There was one night where I was waiting at DTX and about half of the people on the platform actually sang along. It was a glorious "uniquely Boston" kind of unifying moment.
