Do you think NJ has the same no parking in front of hydrant law?

I may be wrong but I think New Jersey has the same no parking in front of hydrant laws. I watch them park this car on Marlborough St and just walk away. At first I thought they would be quick (still not cool) but an hour later they came back to check on the car and left again!

UPDATE: To all those wondering I did call it in and put it on CC. No one came. Also by the time I was able to get down several flights of stairs to warn the people they were gone both times.

Plenty of cars with MA plates do the same shit.

it was just a joke at the driver because obviously this law applies everywhere.

Typical. Not surprised. The only ones more entitled are Connecticut.

And don't forget BMW drivers.

I'd like to add Audi drivers to the mix. They seem to be the new BMW driver.

Audi drivers have always been that way. I know exactly one Audi driver who's not a complete tool.

Audi drivers were definitely lots more conservative (and polite) than BMW. ;-)

You're thinking of New Yawkahs

...to defend Jersey drivers, but that looks like a rental from the stickers on the windows. Could be anywhere scum.

Its adorable how some people think only drivers from other states are entitled and dangerous. Car drivers in every state are terrible and will continue to be until we start taking away licenses from dangerous maniacs.

It's adorable how people cling to stupid demographic/geographic stereotypes like they are law of physics:
- Everyone in Allston is a drunk hipster BU student
- Everyone in Cambridge is a snooty knows-better-then-you liberal
- Everyone in Roxbury or Dorchester is a gang-banging, social benefit leach
- Etc

The Allston description (barring lower) is accurate though, minus the hipster.

They're the dregs of society!

... Seriously? Grow up.

If you want to see true epic entitlement parking, check out Medford Square when St. Joe's has a big event. Every hydrant, crosswalk, residential or commercial driveway, etc. completely blocked by cars with Knights of Columbus stickers on them.

As rich kids double-park their range rovers and bimmers to run in and cash their parents checks, all while there are open spots within 50 feet. Double points for a "look at me" vanity plate and LV purse. That place makes the 20-somethings of E. Broadway look like they're in the capital of humbleville.

Hate to be a buzzkill, but it's a rental.
Maybe just a Masshole in disguise.

,,, the folks from NJ are such fine people and present such a positive view of people from that state with such fine upstanding behavior when they visit other states. Maybe we need to expand the definition of MASSHOLE to include folks from NJ. After all, they had casinos first on the east coast. Should we expect the same fine behavior from all extended family MASSHOLES (read that folks from NJ) if Chris Christie gets elected?

does Chris Christie have to do with a probable rental parked on a friggin hydrant?

So it's wrong to dismiss everyone in JP as entitled, left wing hypocrites pontificating from their bubble but a miscreant car with Jersey tags means the Jersey Governor would make a lousy POTUS? Does your Mom know her eighteen years of efforts were wasted? Does this pass for debate in Progressive quarters?

Chris Christie wants to be president because New Jersey hates him and his political career there is dead, but the national media adores him for being a tough manly-man. It's much easier to talk to people about what a great governor you are if you can just lie to their face.

I doubt Christie genuinely wants to be president. He wants to be a presidential candidate, grifting off conservatives for a while, maybe selling a ghostwritten book about how he'll take back America, etc.

If only there was some sort of 'connect' way to send a 'complaint' to City Hall.
Or Adam could just have a Roving Uhub Reporter go over there and leave a nasty note/ bitch them out/ hang a Confed, um, never mind.

Such a Chrysler owner thing to do.

If you saw them park there and walk away, and you saw them come back to check on the car, why not at least give them a friendly warning that they're parked illegally (not to mention endangering lives)?

it's about whining

It's been 8 years (minus a day or two) and people still can't spell iPhone correctly. Cripes

it would be a shame if they had to access that hydrant and the car became a dumpster/water distribution access point.

Sees the Hydrant is on the sidewalk and not in the street so its okay to park there. Plus its a rental and you don't gotta pay tickets onna rental.

can you try and not clog up this site with minor transgressions?

You could have spoken up and said something to the driver. You also could have called it in or submitted it on citizens connect. I can tell you from experience -- strangely enough with a NJ plate blocking a hydrant over in Fenway -- that they take these things seriously.

It's not your obligation to act, of course. But you did have time to watch them, take a picture, and share it on UHub...and I'm not really sure what that accomplishes.

You could have spoken up and said something to the driver.

What could you have said to the driver that he doesn't already know?

that he's parked in front of a hydrant?

that parking in front of a hydrant is illegal?

that parking in front of a hydrant endangers other people's lives and property and is sociopathic behavior?

Really, what could you have told him?

the proper Boston response is to slash his tires and break his windows, after all, we're only a few dozen weeks out from the last snowstorm.

Fowler, you had time to go back to your computer and post about it (and update the post).

Sounds like enough time to go find that news photo from a few months ago where there was a car, a fire hydrant, and fire hoses snaked over/around (and maybe though the smashed windows of) the car. Print it & go leave it on their windshield.

Now that I'm mainly working in Manhattan again, I can tell you that 95% of the cars that don't understand the concept of waiting for the intersection to clear before proceeding have NJ plates. They can be seen every rush hour blocking 5th Ave at 42nd, essentially having run red lights, trapped between throngs of pedestrians.

Growing up in Queens -- no joke -- my mother warned me to watch out for the cars with the light blue Jersey plates.
