Melisa asks:
I'm planning to get my first tattoo soon. Does anyone have an artist they particularly recommend in the Boston area? I already have one solid recommendation but want to see what's out there.

My guy left the area and it’s been a few years since I’ve had work done, but it was always a great shop.
Definitely good to do your research. I’d also make sure the artist you go with works well in the style you want, not just one that comes highly recommended—deep dive those portfolios.

Just outside the city, but go see Forte at Boston Street Tattoo shop in Lynn. Well versed in all styles, very great guy and super talented.

Ghost in the Machine in Brighton is a cool shop with a solid line up of artists. Otherwise, Redemption Tattoo in Cambridge. Can't go wrong with either shop.

Tattooing is an art form. Recommending a good artist really means knowing what it is the person wants. Black and gray? Color? New School? Traditional? Watercolor?
Recommendations are great, but it'd be a lot more helpful to know what type of work the person wants done.
