Puritan Ice Cream Company in Roslindale sells a pink peppermint ice cream that was featured in the Greta Gerwig production of Little Women (just as it was described in the original novel to be).
It may not be the creamery or quaint ice cream parlor you're looking for, but Brigham's really does make a very good peppermint ice cream. Unparalleled. At Christmas time, you can find it at most major supermarkets: Hannafords, Shaws/Star Market, Market Basket, etc.
I enjoy it with a homemade hot fudge sauce that is on the bitter side.
The Ice Creamsmith does have awesome peppermint stick ice cream, but they only offer it as a monthly flavor (November) and they are now on limited winter hours with pre-packed ice cream of just a few flavors.
I hear a lot of people rave about this place but the few times I went the ice cream tasted like frozen cool whip and frosting, kind of like a cheap, no-name, hoodie knock off that you'd get at the high school cafeteria. There seems to be such a disconnect between others opinions and mine that I wonder if maybe I only dreamt I went and never actually set foot in the place.
They have peppermint as a special flavor right now. They will also make a six pint batch of whatever you want if you want that much for a party or freezer hoard. https://www.tippingcowicecream.com/flavors
Tipping cow is great!! They also have really good non-dairy flavors.
Christina's in Cambridge also has peppermint stick as a seasonal flavor, and I believe they'll make anything special if you order a quart. I did that with their mango jalapeno sorbet once (worth it!!).
Just wondering about the circumstances has now given me an irresistible craving for peppermint stick ice cream. This is going to derail my plans for the day.
