The Bay State Banner reports the impending demise of A Nubian Notion, not because of gentrification or anything like that, but because the generation of the family running the place is all at retirement age and all their kids decided to go into different careers.

Jennifer Garvey, already facing a lawsuit for the way she handled a woman complaining about her treatment of an elderly person at Dudley station, now faces criminal charges of causing injury while violating a person’s civil rights, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery, and two counts of filing a false report on the incident, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Boston Police report officers who heard gunfire in front of Roxbury Municipal Court shortly before noon yesterday, spotted the alleged shooter running away and were able to catch up with him and place him under arrest. Read more.

Volunteers at the Bolling Building in Dudley Square are busy today packaging 8,200 new winter coats for distribution next week to BPS students who need them.

Operation Warm bought the coats with donations from BNY Mellon, Genzyme Corporation, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, People’s United Community Foundation, the TD Charitable Foundation and a Boston-area philanthropist who wants to remain anonymous, according to BPS. Read more.

A city task force is urging Boston officials to create a Dudley Square/Uphams Corner "neighborhood innovation district" to bring entrepreneurs, jobs and new housing into the area as start-ups create the next generation of businesses in whatever field the district becomes known for - maybe education, given the new location of BPS headquarters. Shelisa Bittle, 26, of Somerville, whose arrest at the back of a T bus Friday was captured on video was released on personal recognizance today on at her arraignment in Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of larceny, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Transit Police are investigating the way a woman was arrested on a bus at Dudley station yesterday morning after she allegedly stole from another woman running a small pushcart at the station - but say an initial review shows the alleged thief is to blame for a commotion captured on video. Mary Celeste Holmes of Roxbury charges Transit Police officers violated her civil rights when she complained about the way they were allegedly manhandling an elderly woman at the Dudley T station and they responded by using pepper spray on her, beating her with a baton and smacking her phone out of her hands as she was on the line with 911. Says they're on quite a few building in the Dudley area, adds, "So upset to know people that think this way live so close," really would love to know who's responsible: See the flier.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Jamel Bannister, 24, of Dorchester, on a charge of second-degree murder for the death of Courtney Jackson at the Dudley bus station on Feb. 28, 2013, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

A second man, Brian Cooper, 27, of Mattapan, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree murder earlier this month for the death.

According to the DA's office, Bannister and Cooper got into an argument with Jackson around 9:30 p.m.:
