Hugmajesty spotted our rare fly-in brown booby hanging out near Carson Beach with one of the local cormorants, in sharp contrast to yesterday's attempt by some of the meaner gulls to chase it off. Also note its feet are yellowish - you're thinking of blue-footed boobies, which are a different species altogether, one found in the eastern Pacific.
Mary Ellen was among the bird enthusiasts who gathered on the beach between the Curley Community Center and Carson Beach today for a chance to photograph the brown booby that decided to head north for some time in the Hub.

State Police report two men were found dead at Carson Beach in South Boston today. The first, around 1:30 p.m., appears to have drowned. State Police say the second man, found near H Street around 3:30 p.m. did not appear to have drowned; his cause of death is under investigation.

The Boston Licensing Board decides tomorrow whether to let Gopuff, a service that offers app-based delivery of convenience-store stuff from a warehouse on Dorchester Avenue in South Boston, buy the South Bay Stop & Shop's liquor license so it can start offering six packs and hardier drinks to its customers in South Boston and nearby parts of Dorchester. DCR reported today that lion's-mane jellyfish have floated into the waters off Carson Beach in South Boston, Wollaston Beach in Quincy and Nahant Beach in, well, Nahant. Read more.

State Police report finding a woman who told them she had been raped around 4:30 a.m. on Carson Beach by a man who was among a group of people who had gathered near the bathhouse - all of them "most likely members of the homeless community," according to police. Read more.
The family of Kyzr Willis, who drowned while at a city-run summer program at Carson Beach last year, is suing Mayor Walsh, the city and individual workers at the program. Read more.

Boston firefighters and State and Boston Police rushed to Carson beach on a report of a missing woman, possibly in the water. She was found safe and sound at Castle Island.
