A driver with a possible reading problem ignored the "CARS ONLY" signs and drove his big rig right into a bridge on Storrow Drive near Charles Circle around 9:30 a.m., spewing fluid from the electrical transformers all over the road and putting a major hurt on a Hyundai that had the misfortune of being in the adjoining lane just as one of the transformers was knocked free by the bridge, which, as always, refused to yield. In fact, the photo shows where the driver stopped after hitting the Silber Footbridge, which is what State Police said and I missed in my zeal for a funny headline. Police report Storrow truck drivers batted .333 this morning: One cracked his truck open like a walnut while two others managed to avoid the embarrassment - if not the tickets State Police routinely hand out to drivers who manage to get on the truck-unfriendly road. Read more.
Storrowing Week continues with a driver who wedged his box truck into the Bowker Overpass at the Fenway exits on Storrow outbound this morning. State Police report they had to shut the right lane at Fenway exits to get the thing out. Eye-in-the-sky video of the non-motile truck.
Shortly before 1 p.m, State Police reported somebody drove an "overheight" truck right into the bottom of a bridge on the outbound side. No injuries, but the right travel lane had to be shut while the remains of the truck were extracted. WCVB has more.

Around 11 p.m. on Monday, just before the end of another Allston Christmas, the driver of a rental truck made contact with the Silber Way footbridge on Storrow Drive, as Chris shows us.
Now, the truck is facing inbound on the outbound side of Storrow; in an attempt to get it out. Presumably, they eventually figured it out. Another view, by KMV: Read more.
Some time before 8:25 p.m. or so, when Dev arrived at the scene, the driver of a box truck learned his truck was no match for the Grand Junction train bridge just before the BU Bridge, where Soldiers Field Road inbound becomes Storrow Drive. The judges rate this 9/10, deducting a point because the truck did not disgorge its contents all over the road.
At 3:25 p.m., State Police reported that Soldiers Field Road in Allston was shut inbound at North Harvard thanks to another box truck driver thinking he could squeeze under a bridge, only it turns out he couldn't.
Don Reisner spotted this stuck truck at the East Street bridge in Dedham late this afternoon (if you thought they'd fixed the bridge, you're thinking of the East Street bridge next door in Westwood).

What the State Police called an overheight tractor trailer got up close and personal with the Dartmouth Street footbridge on the inbound side of Storrow Drive right in the middle of rush hour this morning. Everybody had a hearty chuckle, especially the people who got stuck in a backup that extended back to North Harvard Street on Soldiers Field Road.

Roving UHub reporter Katy B. watched the action this morning when a box-truck driver came face to face with a "CARS ONLY" sign on a ramp to Storrow Drive: He said screw this and hit the accelerator.
Roving UHub photographer Liz Robson got a good view of a freshly shaved box truck on Storrow Drive from the Fairfield Street footbridge this afternoon. The judges gave this storrowing high marks for style, but deducted points for the truck being empty and so having nothing to spew all over the road.

A box-truck driver decided discretion was the better part of valor and hit the brakes a couple feet short of a Storrow bridge rather than getting up to ramming speed this afternoon, DF reports.
