Somebody called in a bomb threat to the Somerville central library on Highland Avenue shortly before 2 p.m - the scheduled start of a drag-queen story hour, which was then cancelled as police combed the building for a bomb that didn't exist. Read more.

A federal judge today set a Nov. 8 hearing date at which Alexander Giannakakis is expected to plead guilty to helping hide evidence that his brother set two Orthodox rabbis' homes on fire - in Arlington and Needham - also tried to burn down a "Jewish-affiliated" business in Chelsea and was involved in other white-supremacist activities in the area. The Newton Beacon reports the boiler had sat, unused, behind several locked doors, for decades with "a 3-inch raised-iron swastika" on it until Mayor Ruthanne Fuller heard about it last week and ordered the symbol ground off.

The state Attorney General's office today sued the state's home-grown Nazi group and two of its leaders on civil-rights and conspiracy charges for using violence and intimidation against drag-queen story hours, immigrants and just random people over the past couple of years, including in Jamaica Plain, the Seaport and on a pedestrian bridge over Storrow Drive. A federal judge yesterday agreed to let Charles Murrell III, beaten by members of the white-supremacist Patriot Front rabble on July 4th weekend last year, formally alert the group's leader of his lawsuit against it by e-mail instead of in person, because the guy has been changing addresses like somebody who doesn't really want to be served with lawsuit paperwork. A disgusted citizen filed a 311 complaint this morning about the fresh "White Power" and swastika painted on the pathway near the Frances Appleton footbridge - the one near the Longfellow. The swastika was painted backwards.

A bunch of Nazi LARPers showed up at the Boston Anarchist Bookfair in Harvard Square on Sunday to try to look as menacing and tough as one can in khakis, but bookfair volunteers managed to fend them off through the sneaky maneuver of locking the doors until the Nazis' attention span timed out after ten minutes and they left.
