The state, which owns the current Shattuck Hospital off Morton Street and Boston Medical Center are holding a Zoomed meeting on Tuesday to discuss their plans to replace the current hospital with new buildings with up to 405 apartments and new beds and clinical services for people with substance-abuse issues and the homeless, including families. The Bay State Banner reports residents living near the southern end of Franklin Park are less than thrilled with plans by the state and non-profit groups to transform the hospital grounds with 405 units of supportive housing for formerly homeless people, 326 beds for people being treated for substance abuse and 120 emergency shelter beds.
A woman who has been held in institutions since she was arrested in 2019 on charges she repeatedly stabbed a Boston EMT as she was being taken to Mass. General has a hearing scheduled next month to determine whether she should be allowed to walk out of the residential substance-abuse program at Shattuck Hospital where she now lives. Read more.
Jeff Anilus, 31, of Randolph was arraigned today in a bed at Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he is recovering from gunshot wounds after, police say, he opened fire on officers and the officers returned fire early Thursday. Read more.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today found Vernon Thompson guilty of raping the girl, participating in a volunteer program at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in 2008, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Thompson, 40, was a patient at the Jamaica Plain hospital when he raped the girl in a stairwell. He faces life in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on July 22.
