A beautiful day and school-vacation week equaled a wicked long line for the opening of Sullivan's at Castle Island today. Traffic was backed up way past the Farragut statue.

Between the wind and the tides, it's fairly rare for Pleasure Bay to be still enough to be reflective.
The Coast Guard teamed up with Boston fire and police marine units to rescue five kayakers who found themselves in some sort of trouble in Dorchester Bay off Castle Island shortly after 3 p.m. today; initial reports said one might have wound up in the water. John Duffill reports the marine units got all five out OK.

Die-hard Sullivan's fans were out in force this morning for the re-opening of the Castle Island institution. Eileen Murphy captured Matt Noonan and Charlotte Donovan of Quincy enjoying their first outdoor hot meal this year at Castle island.
For the fifth straight year, John Connors was first in line.
Sullivan's at Castle Island opens for the season tomorrow. And the Clam Box at Wollaston Beach opens March 4.

Rather big police presence at Castle Island around 10 a.m. - including a State Police helicopter - looking for whoever thought it was a good idea to use the peninsula right across the harbor from Logan to fly some drones. It's what the FAA likes to think of as "restricted airspace."

Castle Island regular Eileen Murphy ran across some people filming "World's Smallest House" with a tiny unit they probably just brought in for the filming, rather than something they're actually going to try to rent out, although one would probably have to check with the BRA to be sure.
