It sounded like the perfect pairing: Richard Dreyfuss up on stage discussing his career and the making of "Jaws" before the lights dimmed and the movie played on the screen behind him.

Instead, Dreyfuss used his time on stage at the Cabot Theatre in Beverly Saturday night to spew hatred at both women and transgender people he just wouldn't stop and people began to walk out, even if they had paid up to $125 for a ticket. Read more.

A Beverly pizza-shop owner who got $680,000 in federal Covid-19 relief funds based on applications with inflated employee counts, then used the money to jump from pizza making to alpaca farming, was sentenced to two years in federal prison this week for his wooly fabrications, the US Attorney's office announced. The former owner of a Beverly pizza place was arrested today on federal charges that he fraudulently obtained several hundred thousand dollars in federal funds meant to keep workers he didn't actually have working through the pandemic - and used much of the money to start an alpaca ranch in Vermont. Update: WCVB reports the bicyclist, Emerson College Prof. Moses Shumow, died.

Transit Police report a man on a bicycle was hit by an outbound Newburyport/Rockport train at the Beverly Depot station around 8:20 a.m. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Liam MacLeod of Beverly plans to plead guilty later this month to charges of mailing threatening communications and conveying false information and hoaxes for a series of angry letters he will admit he sent to the corporate offices of OKCupid between September and December, 2017, according to filings in federal court. Good Morning Wilton reports the arrest of Mark Crowley, 56, of Beverly, on charges he had contacted an 11-year-old girl in Wilton, CT and was trying to "groom" her to take and send him nude photos. Crowley was arrested in Beverly last week and extradited to Connecticut today.

Happened around 8 a.m. on an inbound Rockport train, according to Bill Kyrouz and Lisse, who were on the train.

Lisse reports the woman tried boarding the train as it was pulling out of the station. Fortunately, she says, a "quick thinking conductor" applied the emergency brake and the woman appeared to suffer only a cut head.

The woman was transported to Beverly Hospital alert and conscious.

Train service on the line is now halted.

GateHouse had been using YouTube to post news videos, but now the video service that lets teenagers post videos of themselves stomping on other teenagers has decided to pull Wicked Local's video of the Beverly Gloucester-sucks floats, not because of the eight-foot long spurting penis, but because one person in the video complained to YouTube. Of course, you realize, this means war:
