Beverly Police report arresting a local man they say had built up a stockpile of parts for 12 unlicensed guns and rifles even as he was posting his Jewish rape fantasies on a Web site on which he also "encouraged other users to shoot people outside of synagogues."

Matthew Scouras, 34, was arrested at his 527 Essex St. home on Friday before he or his acquaintances could carry out any of those ideas, police say:

On Thursday, Jan. 2, the Beverly Police Department was notified by the FBI National Threat Operations Center that an individual with an address in Beverly posted several threats against people of Jewish faith on an internet image board.

According to information provided by the FBI, an individual at 527 Essex St. posted threats to rape Jewish women and encouraged other users of the site to shoot people outside of synagogues.

Police say that after an initial visit by officers, Scouras was ordered held for a mental-health evaluation as officers obtained a search warrant for his house:

The search located numerous items in a bedroom occupied by SCOURAS, including a cellular telephone, two desktop computers, a Nazi flag, a 9mm Glock “ghost gun” with no serial number, six boxes of ammunition, three large-capacity rifle magazines, 11 lower receivers for various rifles, other firearm parts, scopes, pistol frames, a jig used for drilling holes into polymer pistol handles, rifle stocks, and more than $70,000 in cash.

After the search, Scouras was charged with 12 counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large-capacity feeding device, improper firearm storage, making a firearm without a serial number, threats to destroy a place of worship and willful communication of a threat with a dangerous item, police say

At his arraignment in Salem District Court today, a judge ordered him held without bail until at least a dangerousness hearing on Jan. 13.

Innocent, etc.

Hopefully the court system will treat this Nazi nutcase to a long stay in the graybar hotel.

The intel came from the FBI but it appears that any charges will be state rather than federal based on the court its in.

What I wonder is whether there is a divergence between psychological health and spiritual health. Which would require some way to measure spiritual health.

When people are in a religious cult are their psychological or physiological issues involved? Are there issues that don't fit physiological - issues of the brain matter itself, or psychological, how emotions and intellect merge, but of a quality that could be referred to as spiritual?

There are cults that lead to self-destruction. But some cults become religious denominations. LDS, SDA, and Christ Scientist don't send their adherents to suicide by Koolaid or castration of the males or ranches of polygamy. Then there are the cults that do lead to violence. And there are the cults-religions that don't send adherents to their deaths but still are dubious and in some ways dangerous. Scientology, Hare Krishnas, Moonies, and now, giving us an extraordinary danger of national scale, American Evangelicals.

What are the mass psychological issues at play in group psychology? Does the term spirituality of groups fit the situation (is there a German term for spirituality of a group?) Or is there a kind of psychological-spiritual science that is applicable in explaining why people choose to be in cults? I know that there is social science research and theorizing. Maybe we need more reporting and education on the ideas of social science. But then social science theories are not as sexy as blood, money, murders, rapes, theft, political and religious personal corruption, etc.
