Tropical Foods on Melnea Cass Boulevard in Roxbury says a ten-story residential building next door would cause parking and driving problems for its customers, created"offensive shadows" and reduce the value of its property, so it's asking a judge to "annul" the Zoning Board of Appeal's approval of the project. The owner of a South End condo and roof patio yesterday sued the Zoning Board of Appeal to block construction of a pair of decks - one with a grill and fire pit - atop the building next door. Read more.

A Los Angeles man who took in a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium on Sept. 26, 2021 today sued the MBTA and the Kone escalator company for the injuries he says he suffered when the escalator he was riding up from the train at Back Bay after the game suddenly went into reverse, throwing him to the bottom of the escalator, where he became pinned as other people fell on top of him. A group of residents on Snow Hill and Hull street in the North End sued the Zoning Board of Appeal today over its approval of a project to add a fourth floor to a two-family building at 47-48 Snow Hill St., next to an existing four-story building. Read more.

Liberty Mutual alleges, in a lawsuit filed yesterday in Suffolk Superior Court, that the BWSC caused a 2020 flood along Harrison Avenue in the South End on April 14, 2020 by overpressuring its mains, including the 30-inch wide pipe that burst, flooding basements and parking garages and lots. The owner of a Quality Inn on the Revere/Saugus line is suing the Boston Public Health Commission for the money it says it's owed for holding all of its rooms for three months in 2021 for Mass and Cass denizens who Boston never actually sent there once Revere and Saugus officials erupted in anger on learning of the plan. The owner of 151 Charles St. on Beacon Hill yesterday sued the owner of the neighboring 149 Charles St., for what it says is illegal digging in that building's basement, which it claims removed some supports for its building, forcing it to evacuate the tenants who had not already moved after their floors started warping, their walls started cracking and doors and windows stopped closing all the way.
