A developer has filed plans for a three-story, three-building condo development at 65-79 Seattle St. that would include things most Boston projects don't get, including plantings that will include nut trees and a "woonerf" - a sort of combination plaza, driveway and shaded area that is popular in the Netherlands and which could ultimately be connected to a local "greenway" path once Harvard finishes its own research campus nearby. Residents of Redlands Road off Centre Street in West Roxbury are mostly reacting cautiously to a developer's plans to replace the closed Stonehedge nursing home with a 30-unit apartment building. Traffic and parking, of course, are their main concerns. Read more.

The co-founder of Flatiron Energy of Boulder, CO met with Brighton residents yesterday to talk at length about the company's proposal for a two-story, 62,000-square foot building filled with lithium-ion batteries on Electric Avenue - except for the one thing most of them wanted to hear more about: How the company would protect them from the risk of a fire at a large electric facility as close as 40 feet to some residents' property. A Newton real-estate investment firm today filed plans for a 40-story tower with 400 residential units, 320 hotel rooms and a two-level garage underground garage with 150 parking spaces between Causeway, North Washington and Medford streets - a block that forms the top angle of the Bulfinch Triangle. A developer says he will soon file detailed plans to convert the Boston Wharf Co. building at Summer and Melcher streets - the one that has long beamed its devotion to "industrial real estate" in bright red neon across Fort Point Channel - into 77 apartments, under the city's pilot tax-break program for that sort of conversion. A developer that won approval in 2016 for a 36-unit condo building with 33 parking spaces at 151 Liverpool St. in East Boston says it's still chugging along on the project but that it wants to reduce the amount of parking to just 13 ground-floor spaces - by eliminating a proposed one-level basement garage with an expensive "vehicle elevator." A Boulder, CO company last week filed plans for the two-story, 50-foot-tall big battery building it's proposing for, really, the best street in all of Boston for something like that: Electric Avenue in Brighton. Read more.
