Smoke in front of Faneuil Hall from motorcycles

Dan Meade reports he was in front of Faneuil Hall around 6:45 p.m. today when a large group of motorcycles came roaring up:

They came down Devonshire, held up traffic at the crossing at Congress to keep the pack together, and then about 100 motorcycles stopped in front of Fanueil Hall and smokescreened the whole block.

Trash atop a Dig box on Congress Street

Cynthia Donovan reports that now that people are once again using the tops of news boxes to avoid the onerous task of taking their lunch detritus back to their office trash cans, now that the city has removed all the BigBelly trash containers along Congress Street on the South Boston side of Fort Point Channel. Sounds like a district in need of some innovation when it comes to trash.

Two exotic cars parked at a hydrant

An irate citizen complains about where some valet is parking the more exotic cars on Congress Street near the Children's Museum:

Four hours ago it was a Masserati parked in front of the hydrant. Now it's a vintage Caddie and Bentley. Are you going to do something about this valet or do special cars get special treatment? PLEASE!!

Earlier:
This is what happens to the cars of morons who park in front of hydrants.
Another reason not to park in front of a hydrant.

Geyser on A Street

No doubt there's a perfectly good explanation for this afternoon's six-story geyser on A Street at Congress that doesn't involve a burst water main or an attack by Lord Nemo on the surface people. Photograph by Upstatement.

Robbie Waters provides another view of the eponymous event.

The owners of the burned out ship and museum wharf off Congress Street go before the Zoning Board of Appeals on July 13 to seek a variance to rebuild - presumably with some sort of fireproofing, given that the place has caught on fire twice in ten years.

The owners need city pemission to rebuild because they want to build something twice as large as the old wharf and add two additional replica ships.

The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on the eighth floor of City Hall.
