Update: 10:55 a.m. Man now in custody, being brought to a hospital for observation.

Update, 9:10 a.m. Stuart Street remains shut.

The person is on the 14th floor, which Emerson College rented to house students this year, but the campus newspaper reports he's not an Emerson student. Read more.

New England Law Boston has filed plans with the BPDA to rent the 6,400-square-foot ballroom at the neighboring Revere Hotel on Stuart Street for use as a three-section classroom. Read more.

Police officers called to a fight at Tunnel on Stuart Street early one morning last October were frisking a suspect who might have slashed a man's forehead open when they discovered he'd apparently been stabbed himself. And then another disturbance erupted and by the time they quelled that, they found a third man outside dripping blood from fresh cuts to his hand and forearm. Read more.

Fire at Tremont Street and Stuart Street

The man died after jumping from the 24th floor of the Revere Hotel, 200 Stuart St., shortly after 3 p.m. this afternoon. Police had been notified, but he jumped before they could reach him.

Micro-printed words on real state IDs, like this Mass. license, don't show up on fakes, at least not yet.

The doorman at Bijou on Stuart Street was a bit suspicious of the young-looking woman with the Maine license trying to get into the club one October night, even though her ID checked out OK on the computerized scanner he uses. So he turned to a trick police and the more experienced door staff use to ferret out people with fraudulent IDs: He asked her the state capital. When she replied "Augusta," he let her in - because most people who get fake IDs don't expect to be quizzed on facts about the state they're allegedly from and can't answer such questions. A man who ripped his shirt off as he was being escorted out of a Theater District club and vowed to take care of the guys he'd been arguing with waited around outside - only to find himself beaten to the ground and stomped when they were joined by more men, in an attack that ended only after police sprayed the scrum with pepper spray twice. UPDATE: It's not even all that edgy. The Bukowski Tavern had the same idea a few years ago, only with a 40 of malt liquor in a bag.

Boston Magazine reports the owners of the unique 19th-century German place on Stuart Street are looking for $1 million for the restaurant - not the building itself - and hope whoever buys it will keep it pretty much the way it is now.

The Boston Sun reports the Board of Appeal this week approved a 19-story, 131-unit residential building on what is now a Stuart Street parking lot.

The Board of Appeals yesterday approved plans to turn a long vacant storefront at 441 Stuart St., at the corner of Dartmouth Street, into a liquor store.

Back Bay Wine and Spirits will also sell high-end groceries out of the 1,000-square-foot space, its attorney, Kristen Scanlon, told the board.
