A state trooper who was part of a highway-shutting blockade to corral stunting dirt bikers and ATV riders on I-93 last year now faces felony charges for shooting one of them in the foot with a rifle. Read more.
State Police report the ramps to and from the expressway at Exit 15 (Columbia Point) will be shut at 7 p.m. so workers can try to do something about that derailed Red Line train at JFK/UMass. When will they reopen? State Police say your guess is as good as theirs.
An Avon man who showed a gun to another motorist as they hurtled down the outbound Expressway this morning now faces a variety of charges, State Police say - adding they are still considering whether to charge the other driver, a Boston man, because they say he flashed a knife during the rolling incident. Yesterday, State Police went on social media to urge motorists to clear the snow off their roofs before getting on the road. Looks like word didn't filter into Boston: EmbraceTheBald spotted this BPD vehicle on the Expressway this morning.
On the way home after the Patriots parade this evening, Mayor Walsh spotted a car on fire on the Expressway. The Boston Fire Department reports Hizzona stayed with the driver until firefighters could arrive to douse the flames.

Roving UHub photographer Tim Murphy reports that as he was getting on the Expressway northbound at Neponset Circle, so was this woman on a bike. She then managed to "claim" the right lane at 10 to 15 m.p.h.

A large group of masked riders on dirt and quad bikes who spent the day stunting, blocking traffic and scaring pedestrians on streets around Boston had their trek ended by State Police on the Southeast Expressway at Mass. Ave, where troopers and other officers blocked them in - and shot one in the foot as he tried to flee arrest around 5 p.m. Read more.
MassDOT reports the person was on I-93 northbound near Savin Hill tonight. The road northbound was shut and traffic diverted onto Morrissey Boulevard. One lane on I-93 south was also shut.

Paul Nutting videoed the riders who normally cause problems on Boston's narrower streets and avenues going out for a spin on Morrissey before getting on I-93 in Dorchester. Jesskowski reports about ten riders stunting as they got on the highway around 6:30 p.m.

The State Police's Dustin Fitch shows us the sign flashing a warning on the Southeast Expressway into town this morning.
Lance Holloman, 30, was charged with two murders Sunday that left an East Taunton man dying on the side of I-93 and a New Hampshire woman fatally shot in Holloman's Dorchester home, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and State Police report.
Scott Stevens, Jr., 32, of East Taunton, died this afternoon at Boston Medical Center, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Stevens and his father, Scott Stevens, Sr., 54, of Raynham, were shot Sunday afternoon as they rode their motorcycles south on I-93 near Neponset Circle. His father suffered less severe injuries, police say.
Gretchen Van Ness is one of the motorists who got stuck in what turned into at least 90 minutes of gridlock on I-93 southbound this afternoon after police shut the road following a double shooting near Neponset Circle. She reports people have been "terrific" and kept their cool - and that this guy walked down the road handing out Oreos.
