Boston Restaurant Talk reports Comfort Kitchen has opened in a long abandoned comfort station on Columbia Road in Uphams Corner - as a cafe during the day and a sit-down restaurant with a bar at night, featuring "the flavors and ingredients of the African diaspora - global comfort food - connected from Asia to the Americas."

The Boston Licensing Board today approved plans by Biplaw Rai to turn a long abandoned trolley station on Columbia Road in Uphams Corner into a restaurant that serves food with "Asian and African inspiration" by night and more traditional cafe fare by day. Read more.

Update: Victim identified: Frederick Hines, 39, of South Boston.
State Police report a man on a 2016 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide "went off the roadway, struck the raised curb, entered the grass median and struck a tree" on a curve at Columbia Road and Babe Ruth Park Drive around 2:40 a.m.
He was taken to Tufts Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Ralph Brown of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Shaquille Browder in the parking lot of the Burger King at Columbia Road and Washington Street on Jan. 11, 2018, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

SUV, with fresh damage from hitting a kid
Update: Police say they've found the SUV and that the investigation is continuing. WBZ reports the boy suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Boston Police have released photos of a white SUV with fresh damage to its right front fender, whose driver hit a kid at Columbia Road and Intervale Street in Dorchester around 7:20 a.m. and then kept driving. Read more.

Boston Police report a man was stabbed at Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road around 9:20 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
