The State Library of Massachusetts recounts the struggle to get the Robert Gould Shaw memorial built across from the State House - including an effort in the 1980s to add the names of the Black soldiers who fell in battle with Shaw added to the names of the white officers whose names had initially been the only ones inscribed there.

Looks like somebody's stolen Robert Gould Shaw's sword again from the memorial across from the State House.

The Globe reports Melissa Carino took down a Confederate flag that had been draped over the memorial to the North's first black regiment last night after State and Boston Police declined to act, each saying the other was responsible for the historic marker across from the State House.
