Tweedie-Sylvester nuptials

Allison Sylvester is a nurse at Tufts Medical Center, which yesterday posted congratulations to her on the occasion of her engagement to Todd Tweedie.

The T reports "moderate" delays inbound from Forest Hills due to a dead train at Tufts.

The T is vowing quick relief for Orange Line riders driven mad by high-volume wheel squealing in the downtown tunnel over the past couple of days.

"Track Teams are working to address this asap," the T tweeted this morning. "Our apologies for the loud noise."

Transit Police report they are looking for Jose Guthrie, 40, for an incident on an Orange Line train last Tuesday night at the Tufts Medical Center station.

Police say that around 9:35 p.m., Guthrie pointed a weapon, possibly a gun, at somebody on a train at the station. Read more.

Lisa Gualtieri, a public-health professor at Tufts Medical School, has organized an effort to collect "wearable activity trackers" to donate to a YMCA in Fitchburg for folks who can't afford one but who could really use one.

The T reported "police action" at Tufts Medical Center resulted in the dreaded "severe" delays on the Orange Line after 4 p.m. Sarah Fisher reports the details:

Orange line delayed because "a blonde lady and a pregnant lady were beating the crap out of each other" at Tufts Medical. Lovely.

A Chicago man was arraigned yesterday on charges he tried to shunt the driver aside and take the controls of an Orange Line train as it hurtled under Washington Street Tuesday night, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

All the doctors in the world upstairs could do nothing to revive the outbound Orange Line train that expired at Tufts Medical Center around 8:20 a.m.

This was after a Green Line trolley expired at Copley and various trains heading to South Station took a break in their morning routine thanks to switch problems.

Around 2 p.m., Adam Castiglioni reported the lights were out at the Tufts Medical Center stop.

Transit Police responded fairly quickly:

Electricians are working on the problem and additional staff were sent to the station to assist passengers.

As of 5 p.m., however, Boston to a T reports:

Still pretty much pitch black at Tufts Medical station.

A fire in an electrical room just beyond the inbound platform at Tufts Medical Center brought the Orange Line to an abrupt end this morning.

The Boston Fire Department reports a 15,000-volt line began to smolder around 10:10 a.m. Firefighters had to bring in dry-powder extinguishers to put out the fire - and several "smoke ejectors" to clear the smoke out of the station.

The station was turned back to the T around 11:50 a.m. Service on the Orange Line resumed shortly after noon - although the Tufts Medical Center stop remained shut.

Transit Police report arresting a man on charges he tried to steal a woman's phone out of her hands at the Tufts Medical Center stop on the Orange Line last night.

According to police, Joaquin Armaiz, 43, went up to a woman walking towards the platform around 7:40 p.m., grabbed her by the shoulders and demanded her phone:

MBTA Transit Police report an Orange Line rider engrossed in a game on his iPhone 4 failed to notice the guy who was about to snatch it out of his hands as the train pulled into Tufts Medical Center around 12:20 p.m.

Six teens were arraigned today on charges they attacked a woman on an Orange Line train yesterday evening and made off with her cell phone. And after they were done, they exchanged high fives, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The DA's office adds that one of the teens, Eric Thompson, 18, of Dorchester, was arrested at Transit Police headquarters in Roxbury when he showed up to help bail out the other teens - still wearing the same sweatshirt he allegedly wore during the attack.

PenaMBTA Transit Police report arresting a man they say "manipulated himself" in front of a woman at Tufts Medical Center on Oct. 6 when the woman saw him again last night at the Orange Line station.

Police say Juan Pena, 23, started his subway interlude on Oct. 6 by piggybacking his way into the station. Then:

[He] proceeded over to the victim with his pants unzippered and was manipulating himself. The female victim screamed and attempted to walk away from the male, however he followed close behind her the entire time masturbating. The victim contacted Transit Police and reported the incident.

Last night, around 8:20, police say, the woman entered the station and saw the guy on the platform. She immediately contact police, who, after she IDed him, arrested him on a charge of open and gross conduct. He's scheduled for arraignment today in Boston Municipal Court.
