Clean-up crew in Fields Corner

Fields Corner Main Street reports several hundred people showed up for the One Boston Day cleanup along Dorchester Avenue today, including this happy crew in Fields Corner.

Current reports WGBH will open an office in the Fields Corner headquarters of the Association of Independents in Radio. Initially, the station will rotate one reporter there every three weeks, but plans to hire a fulltime Dorchester correspondent. It will also be working with the Dorchester Reporter.

WCVB reports the shops on Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan Square, Dorchester Avenue in Fields Corner, Liberty Plaza in East Boston and Beacon Street in Coolidge Corner are among two dozen the perpetually teetering chain is closing in Massachusetts (in other news, there were still two dozen Radio Shacks in Massachusetts).

The Boston Licensing Board today revoked Pho So 1's food-serving and beer-and-wine licenses after its fifth citation in seven months for staying open well past its licensed closing time of 10 p.m. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board this week will decide whether to revoke Pho So 1's liquor license - or possibly even shut the restaurant completely - because police keep finding it open and serving beer way after its licensed 10 p.m. closing time. Read more.

Dorchester bank robbery suspect

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force has released photos of the woman it says held up the Santander Bank branch at 1442 Dorchester Ave. in Fields Corner around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to punish Pho So 1, 223 Adams St., for repeatedly staying open past its 10 p.m. closing time.

The board today heard details of police citations for incidents on Aug. 29 and Sept. 2. That's in addition to a similar incident in May and yet another incident on Sept. 16.

Showed up at a local ER with a gunshot wound shortly before 9 p.m., possibly from a shooting on Dorchester Avenue, near the alley that leads to Adams Street across from and just north of the Fields Corner T stop.

93 Park St. fire in Dorchester

Boston firefighters responded around 1:20 p.m. to a fire at 93 Park St. in Dorchester that went to four alarms before it was knocked down. The Boston Fire Department reports no injuries.

Arthur Samuels, who once ran Bank of America's Fields Corner branch, was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison and ordered to pay $2.2 million in restitution for his role in Michael David Scott's scheme to suck money out of banks with fraudulent real-estate purchases in 2007 and 2008, the US Attorney's office in Boston reports. WCVB reports a car wound up inside the Mohawk Insurance storefront on Dorchester Avenue at Melville last night.

A two-alarm fire has displaced 46 residents at Ditson Street Senior Housing, 25 Ditson St.

The Boston Fire Department estimates damage at $500,000 from the fire, which started on the second floor, then spread to the third floor and the roof.

Fire Investigators have determined cause was an electrical short in the wiring in a pipe chase 2nd floor ceiling.

Residents were evacuated safely.

Boston Police report an incident at 500 Geneva Ave. late Thursday left a gunman with a fresh stab wound and his two alleged victims with graze wounds from shots he fired at them. Read more.

Stanley Staco reports shots were fired around 10:15 p.m. at Geneva Avenue and Vinson Street. About 10 minutes later, police found somebody with a gunshot wound to the leg a few blocks away at Dorchester Avenue and Charles Street.
