A couple of Boston park rangers used the hitching post in front of the Jamaica Pond gazebo to get their steeds ready for some hoofing around the pond this afternoon.

Boston Police and Animal Control this morning responded to Sacred Heart Parish on Cummins Highway in Roslindale after a horse waiting to transport somebody on her final ride to a local cemetery collapsed and died. The horse was picked up and removed by Parks and Recreation.

The Lonely Wizard enjoyed meeting a pair of DCR rangers and their steeds at Smith Field in Hyde Park this morning.
While Medford police were busy corralling chickens and geese, Needham and State Police were busy using a banana to lure and capture a miniature horse that had broken out of its barn.

Well, this is a first. Around 7:00 or so, going inbound to Boston saw a beautiful chestnut horse running toward Boston alongside the tracks, followed by a woman running behind, followed by a panting MBTA cop. Between Silver Hill and Hastings. Train delayed for 10-15 minutes. All three none the worse for wear.
At least we weren't robbed by outlaws.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo reports train 406 was delayed 11 minutes as Weston and Lincoln police corraled the wayward equine.

Why is it that the Park Rangers do not have to pick up their horses waste? It's a heck of alot worse than any dog, especially at the exit of the parking garage on the common. They should have to clean up after the horse.
