As the fallout over her most recent flier (scroll down, past the racist Easter-egg item), District 6 council candidate Mary Tamer today apologized - not long before she was scheduled for a meet-and-greet in Jamaica Plain, where the reaction has been, oh, a tad more negative than in West Roxbury. Mary Tamer, who served four years on the Boston School Committee, announced this morning she's running for the city council in District 6 (Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury and a bits of Roslindale and Mission Hill). Read more.

WBUR talks to Mary Tamer, a member of the School Committee who says she cannot believe how Superintendent Carol Johnson was going to just let former O'Bryant co-headmaster Rodney Peterson get away without any punishment after pleading guilty to beating his wife.

Her outrage is unusual on a committee hand-picked by the mayor.
