As we all know, Bostonians rushed to Halifax, NS in 1917 after a massive explosion. Among them: Edward Allen, director of the Perkins School for the Blind. A number of the survivors were blinded.

The Perkins School has set up an online exhibit about the work by Allen and others to help newly blinded Haligonians. First, he had to overcome opposition from local eye specialists who resented "outsiders."

Roving UHub photographers don't let international borders stop them from bringing you the views you can use. Today, roving UHub photographer Chris Chatterton shows us the official Nova Scotia Christmas tree on its way to Boston through downtown Halifax.

Nova Scotia, of course, sends Boston a tree each year as thanks for the help we sent them after one of the worst explosions in history there in 1917.

Halifax may not be one of Boston's official sister cities, but once again it's asserted its status as Boston's best friend: Nova Scotia to give $50,000 to Boston Children's Hospital after bombings.

The relationship goes back to at least 1917.
