Boston Police are seeking help from anybody who might have taken photos or videos in the moments before and after a crash at L and East 6th streets yesterday afternoon in which a van jumped the curb and hit two children in a stroller, killing one of them.

Images and video can be e-mailed to Sgt. Det. Thomas Barrett.

WBZ reports two young children in a stroller were hit by a vehicle in a crash at L and East 6th streets around 3:40 this afternoon. Read more.

Firefighters at South Boston Tasty Burger after fire

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded at 1:40 a.m. to Tasty Burger, 69 L St., for a blaze that did an estimated $150,000 in damage and shut down the take-out eatery. The cause is under investigation.

There were no injuries.

The developers working on transforming the 15-acre Boston Edison power-plant site today filed formal plans with the BPDA and state environmental regulators for 2.1 million square feet of development, including 1,588 residential units, a 150-room hotel, 340,000 square feet of office space and 68,000 square feet of retail, 987 parking spaces and more than an acre of public space along the Reserved Channel. The owners of the generating station that towers over South Boston has started the formal process of turning the site into a development with 2.1 million square feet of residential, commercial, office, restaurant and hotel space. Read more.

Caught in Southie reports the Boston Licensing Board today approved a Starbucks at L Street and Broadway, which will either make City Point great again or result in the heat death of the universe, depending on whom you talk to.

Earlier this year, the Boston Licensing Board didn't grant a liquor license to developer Michael Norton's proposed Italian restaurant at L Street and Broadway in South Boston (and then rejected a Starbucks there).

Tomorrow, though, the board considers a request from the owner of Mirisola's, 200 L St., to serve beer and wine with his Italian food. Read more.

A community meeting tonight on a Starbucks proposed for L Street and Broadway repeatedly veered towards Parks and Rec style chaos as residents battled each other on issues that often had little to directly do with the coffeehouse - such as which local restaurants drove other local restaurants out of business. Eileen Murphy brings the glad tidings that the L Street Cumberland Farms has re-opened after some remodeling.

Still, in possible deference to the changing socioeconomic composition of the neighborood, it now carries some new hot-dog toppings: Zucchini relish and something called Chicago Sports Relish.

The Boston Fire Department reports "careless disposal of smoking material" at 120 L St. in the Monsignor Powers project led to a fire around 5:10 p.m.that sent two residents and one firefighter to the hospital. Read more.

The week after the Boston Licensing Board approved a new Dunkin' Donuts on D Street, it's faced with a request for another Dunkin' Donuts in South Boston, this time at 77 L St., near East Broadway.

"Is there a need for a donut shop in that area?" board Chairwoman Christine Pulgini bluntly asked franchisee John Gillespie at a hearing today.

Gillespie said Dunkin' Donuts is not serving that side of South Boston "at all."

Gillespie wants to serve up coffee, donuts and other food substances between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Big tree down on L Street in South Boston

UPDATE, 11 p.m.: Tree fell on Northeast Corridor tracks between Canton Junction and 128. Providence bound train just stopped.

Boston Police report a woman's body was found in the water off the L Street Bathhouse around 9:30 a.m.

The Herald reports, adds to our understanding of the issue by noting in its headline that the body was "topless."

This is at least the third body discovered in the Boston area in a day.
