Cambridge Day reports the city Planning Board told a chain called Crumbl to whip up a new batch of designs for a proposed Central Square cookie bakery, one that does not include completely covering some windows with a "pink wave" motif to block would be cookie espionage by cut-throat competitors.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today approved a Clarendon Street location for Insomnia Cookies, which, since this is the Back Bay we're talking about, won't be open as late as the chain's other branches in less heavy-lidded areas such as BU and Harvard Square. Read more.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday approved plans by Insomnia Cookies to open a warm-cookie storefront on Bromfield Street that would be open until 3 a.m. to serve downtown college students and long-term residents looking for a break from pizza and Chinese food in the witching hour. Read more.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Insomnia Cookies has filed a request to open a late(ish)-night cookie delivery service at 61 Bromfield St.

The company, which already delivers cookies into the early morning to BU students, is asking the Boston Licensing Board for permission to stay open until 3 a.m. on Bromfield.

John Carroll, who when not blogging teaches at BU, alerts us that Insomnia Cookies, which says it will deliver cookies, ice cream and milk until 3 a.m., is setting up shop right next to BU.
