Message from Ohrenberger School to parents about undercooked chicken delivered yesterday

A fed-up parent of a child at the Ohrenberger School on West Boundary Road in West Roxbury forwarded this note the school sent out yesterday. The school has a brand-new kitchen, but it's been out of commission since the start of the year and so far BPS has yet to get it fixed, so instead the school has been serving packaged lunches - some of which showed up yesterday as unsafe to serve.

WCVB reports Shelby Hewitt, 32, is facing two felony counts of forging documents and five other charges related to the way she managed to enroll as a student at English High School in Jamaica Plain, Burke High School in Dorchester and Brighton High School.

Boston Police sought the complain today in West Roxbury Municipal Court.

WFXT reports the woman managed to get herself enrolled at Burke, Brighton and English high schools, using multiple pseudonyms. Motive unknown at this point, but school officials say she didn't appear to harm any students or staff; still BPD is now on the case.

Boston Police report arresting a 39-year-old man they say had a fanny pack with a gun loaded with 14 bullets as he prepared to engage in a fistfight in the employee parking lot of the John D. O'Bryant School on Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury yesterday afternoon. Read more.

The Dorchester Reporter reports a teacher at the Henderson Inclusion School on Croftland Avenue in Dorchester was taken to a local hospital after an apparent attack by a student this morning.
In 2021, a student was charged with repeatedly punching the school principal in the head.

City Councilor Julia Mejia (at large), said today BPS appears poised to announce it's moving the John D. O'Bryant School of Math and Science from Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury to the former West Roxbury Education Complex, next to a swamp on the edge of the city in a building that BPS officials ordered shut in 2019 because, they said at the time, it was filling with mold due to a roof that could not be replaced, atop a structure that looked ready to plunge to the ground. This morning at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. K-8 School, 77 Lawrence Ave. in Dorchester. A teacher promptly seized the gun, which the Herald reports was a BB gun.

Geese eggs turned into goslings

Update: Boston Animal Control arrived today and took the geese, presumably to a place where they can splash around and do other geese-type stuff.

Geese aren't supposed to be hatching their eggs on rooftops, but employees at BPS headquarters in the Bolling Building in Nubian Square reports one feathered couple has done just that - and now they're worried how the goslings will survive. Read more.

WBUR reports on a Boston Public Schools plan to merge the Shaw and Taylor schools in Dorchester into a single school and a similar proposal to do the same thing with the Sumner and Philbrick schools in Roslindale.

In e-mail tonight, BPS told parents of prospective exam-school students that neither BPS nor an outside auditor initially caught the error at first in the way seventh-grade eligibility is calculated, but that they still expect to send out actual invitations in early May - still on schedule for BPS, but later than other area schools with selection policies.
