Sign on door of North End post office: Not open

A roving UHub photographer notes the post office on Hanover Street in the North End has a sign on the door saying it would be opening late, at 10:30 a.m., but that they still weren't open when she swung by at 2 p.m.

Three Boston city councilors yesterday called for a hearing to ask local postal officials why mail service has plummeted like a rock, in particular on Mission Hill in particular, but also across the city. Read more.

A Dorchester woman and an alleged accomplice from Stoughton were arrested yesterday on charges they robbed letter carriers in Hyde Park and Mattapan, one at knife point, for keys that would let them open streetside mailboxes to rummage for checks that could be altered and deposited. Read more.
