Backwards moved the truck on Storrow Drive

Around 10:30 this morning, roving UHub photographer Phil B. came across an unusual sight as he headed inbound on Storrow Drive just before the Kenmore exit: A truck facing inbound but on the otherwise empty outbound side. Read more.

Two non-profit groups have filed plans to convert and modernize a six-story lodging house at 20 Charlesgate West in the Fenway into an 86-unit apartment building, with all the units renting at "affordable" rates below what the city normally considers "affordable." Read more.

NBC Boston's Mark Garfinkel got to the Bowker Overpass where the driver of a box truck for a New Bedford produce company found out what happens when you try to drive a truck onto the overpass, shortly after 5:45 this morning. Judges rate this a 10 out of 10: Truck on its side, roof torn off, debris in the road.

The Boston City Council this week agreed to consider a proposal by Councilor Sharon Durkan (Fenway, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Mission Hill) to amend an ordinance aimed at preventing some city parks and parkways from being overwhelmed by tall buildings next to them to allow a tall residential building next to the Charlesgate section of the Emerald Necklace. An anesthesiologist who had just started a fellowship at Children's Hospital was arrested at his Fenway apartment Thursday evening on charges he downloaded and shared pornographic photos and videos of children as young as infants over the past few months, according to records unsealed in US District Court in Boston today. Boston Police report arresting a Brockton man and a younger accomplice on charges they beat a food deliverer in the face with gun Monday night, then took his scooter for a little adventure through the alleys and streets of the Fenway and Audubon Circle before ditching the scooter near Beacon and St. Mary's streets in Brookline. Boston College's Burns Library posted this illustration for the Shooting the Chutes ride somebody would set up along Huntington Avenue at Parker Street back in the late 1890s - you get up to the top of a tower and then zoom, you shoot down the chute in a gondola and splash in the man-made pond at the bottom. Proposed replacement for Matthews arena

Northeastern University yesterday filed detailed plans with the BPDA for its proposed replacement for Matthews Arena on St. Botolph Street and laid out longer-term plans for several new buildings across its campus, including dorms and lab buildings, some 20 stories tall, that could dramatically change the look of one stretch of Huntington Avenue if built. Northeastern University today filed a "letter of intent" with the BPDA that it plans to replace Matthews Arena - built as Boston Arena in the early 1900s and once home to the Bruins and Celtics - with a new 290,000-square-foot facility that will include both an arena for university teams and a fieldhouse for recreational student use. Three Quincy teens were arraigned Friday on charges they decided to go all droog on some other South Shore teens and bash in their heads at the Kenmore Green Line stop on May 10, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports, adding police are continuing to try to ID two other alleged attackers.
