Rabbits

By XenaKat - 5/30/17 - 8:44 pm

I'm guessing there is a nest of bunnines in the green space surrounding the Allston Fire Station on Cambridge Street (where it intersects with Brighton Avenue and North Beacon Street. We saw about three or four baby bunnies running around or just chilling there today at about 7pm. I picked one up to take a photo, then released it.

....aaaand I fail at posting pics properly. Can anyone help me? What should I do to get them to post properly?

The MSPCA says it's closed its South Huntington Avenue dog park again, this time to protect a mother rabbit and some new baby buns currently nesting there:

We anticipate re-opening the park in two to three weeks after the babies have been weaned and are able to move on. We ask for patience as we prioritize the safety of #wildlife who share this space with the community. We can all live skillfully (and enjoyably!) alongside wild life such as these rabbits.

Rabbit and tern in Boston's Back Bay

SteveBikes spotted this rabbit and young seagull giving each other the eye outside the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston.

UPDATE: As people are telling this bird-agnostic reporter, that's an immature gull, not a tern, so the headline's been adjusted accordingly. And thanks to Earl for the original headline idea.

Allston white rabbit

Roving UHub photographer Christopher Wagner reports on his encounter with the Allston white rabbit:

A couple days ago I was walking to my car and spotted him again. When I crouched down to try and get a picture, he hopped right out from under the white Subaru in the picture and stopped right in front of me. I’m thinking it has to be either an escaped or released pet ‘cause he’s awful comfortable around people. Also the whole albino thing. There was another time in front of my house when he was casually munching on some plants growing between the sidewalk cracks about 10 feet from where I was standing. Not sure what’s going to happen once winter comes, I think the times they will be much sadder.

Anyway I love the fact that there is a white rabbit in Allston.

Swan in the Fens

Masstreehugger photographs the latest addition to the Fens, wonders how he or she will get along with the Canada geese, and adds:

Note in foreground the stripped bark off the trees leaning over the water - courtesy of recent rabbit infestation in the park. They eat bark in order to survive winter, effectively killing the plant although it may resprout from roots. There will be lots of dead wood all over the park this year.
