It'll be like that time the Beatles met in that library on the Quebec/Vermont border

The Boston and Cambridge city councils will hold a rare joint meeting on Thursday, to discuss ways of making the Boston area more economically competitive (apparently, Cambridge councilors have gotten over their fear of Boston).

The meeting, which starts at 3 p.m., is in the one building that straddles the line between the two cities - the Museum of Science. Rather than just milling about awkwardly by the border painted on the floor near the entrance, though, they'll be meeting in the Cahners Theater, on the Cambridge side of the building,

... that actually straddles the US/Canadian border. part of the library is in the US, and part is in Canada. when john lennon wasn't allowed in the US, there was a story that they were all going to meet in Derby Line, with three of 'em in the US, and john lennon in Canada. there are unsubstantiated rumors of a concert happening there.

Was this a post-breakup meeting? I'm assuming so, since Lennon's immigration problems were in the 70s, right?

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House/Bibliothèque et salle d'opéra Haskell straddles the international border between Derby Line, Vermont and Stanstead, Quebec. The library's books are in Canada and the entrance and most of the reading room are in the United States. The opera house is upstairs with the stage being in Canada and most of the seats being in the United States. More info here.

Are terrorists sneaking into the US from Canada posing as bibliophiles? America wants to know.

. . . has a passing interest in antiquarian books- there are a couple shops in Cambridge that specialize in them that are really interesting to just browse.
