Landmark Natick deli to shut forever on Father's Day
By adamg on Thu, 06/10/2010 - 12:29pm
The MetroWest Daily News reports the Fresser's Club comes to an end on June 20, when Joan and Ed retire.
Ed. note: I remember when the place was in Shoppers' World, back when that was a real mall. Even after the move to Natick, you'd often see Ed behind the counter - and Joan behind the cash register. Damn, now I'm hungry for a roast beef on rye.

Damn...
I liked that place.
Where else am I going to get kishka with bowties and gravy now?
I really enjoyed their latkes.
Been there. Loved it.
I've been served by Ed himself. It was great.
I don't think I've had a better Reuben anywhere else around Boston in the past 10 years.
At least there's still
At least there's still Lendy's in Saugus...
Sad day
June 20th will be a sad, sad day. Happy retirement to Joan and Ed, but where the heck are the rest of us gonna get real deli? And do not say Zaftig's. Seriously.
Zaftig's? Bite your tongue!
Well, unless you want to savor it.
There's always Rein's. Only two hours away ...
What about the S&S?
I know, not exactly the same, but surely it deserves note if only for the name,
Rein's
Somewhat franchises, maybe they'll move one in there. Just needs to be owned by people that understand what a deli is unlike the Springfield one.
That is a shame, but I hope
That is a shame, but I hope they enjoy their retirement.
Sad
Surprise!
Did they even try to sell the business, I wonder?
32 more people are going to be out on the street.
Thank You
On behalf of Joan & Ed (my parents), thank you all for your comments. We are all deeply saddened by this and it was not an easy decision. We have tried to sell the restaurant for the past 1.5 years and with today's economy it just wasn't possible. This is the last thing that we wanted to happen.
We will truly miss our staff and all the customers who have been so loyal to us over the years.
Mindy you're the greatest!
Mindy, your smile has brightened up many a Sunday Morning over the years. I will miss you and your parents very, very much!
Thank you so much! That
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me (and my family!). I will really miss seeing all of you every weekend. We have such wonderful and loyal customers and staff! This is a very sad day...
