UPDATE, 7 p.m.: Boston Police identify the victim as Simin Arad, 50, say the bus had a green light, that she walked in front of the bus and that the driver tried to stop.
UPDATE: Channel 5 reports the victim, a woman in her 30s, has died.

I'm not over there much, but I hear a lot of horror stories from people who bike in that area about aggressive driving on the part of the longwood shuttle drivers. There is frustration about the lack of accountability- unlike the T, you can't call in a complaint based on route and bus number.

Yes. As a cyclist, the LMA shuttle drivers absolutely terrify me. They're constantly in the bike lane, cutting off cyclists at stops, passing too closely.
I've been meaning to lodge complaints here and there but have procrastinated. Now I feel guilty.

is very, very congested with trucks, buses, cars, bikes and pedestrians. Everyone has to be on the alert. In this case, it sounds like the bus driver had a green light and tried to stop but could not. You can be the most careful bus driver in the world but if someone steps off the curb, there's not a lot you can do. And now this driver has to live with the memory of such a tragic event.

That intersection is a deathtrap and it makes absolutely no sense to me why it wasn't carefully redesigned when Huntington Avenue was rebuilt a few years ago.

Walking across that street is a real doozy. Cars tear around that corner onto Ruggles even when the pedestrian light is on.
