Broken-down Green Line leaves riders walking to work - the ones who weren't stuck in a tunnel for 30+ minutes
By adamg on Mon, 06/06/2011 - 9:53am
The T's now busing from Fenway and St. Mary's inbound on the D and C lines due to signal problems near Kenmore.
The buses were of little help to Mike, who reports spending 50 minutes studying a Green Line tunnel. As Jeff Clark sat on a stuck train, he wondered if somebody could send him some breakfast.

And the inbound platform of Kenmore is worse packed than after a sox game. People walking down the stairs see the crowd and walk right back out. Yay Monday!
I'm the one telling you like it is.
I was on the train too - and the only thing worse than being stuck was the people PISSING AND MOANING ABOUT IT. One dude kept going on about 'I am so tweeting this, it is coming down hard!"
Maybe if you bleeding heart liberal douchebags stopped dodging your student loans or voted to raise taxes or affect real cheange on Beacon Hill vs just a Kermit the Frog sound-alike, the mis-managed MBTA could have been re-org'd, paid off its debt, and priorities could be set properly - for example, howabout forgetting the federally imposed pipe dream of a green line to slumerville, and just have the rest of the line fixed? How about a feasability study for replacing the green line with heavier gauge rail cars with larger capacity? How about forcing BU, BC, Harvard, etc to put some of that crazy tuition fee hike money into the transit system their students use?
How about that, you bunch of whiners? Oh boo hoo, the T broke...maybe if you walked to work more often, you wouldn't all be so fat and then you'd have real friends, not some self styled digerati who read your twatter posts.
I'm glad there is limit cell and data access on the T, so I don't have to listen to 30 versions of the 'OMG I am on the train!!' - howabbout everyone dump the same money they pay into their crappy cell providers for their iphones and donate it to the T for repairs?
You people suck.
#1 Since when are "bleeding
#1 Since when are "bleeding heart liberal douchebags" the ones opposed to tax hikes?
#2 The academic institutions you listed all have transit systems for their students. However, some of us also worked full-time while attending school and thus also used the public transportation funded by our tax dollars, god forbid!
#3 The rest of us will be sure to follow suit and drop our cell plans and donate that money to the T as soon as you do, you kind, charitable, sweet-hearted asshat, you
Well put.
Well put.
Last time I checked, it
Last time I checked, it wasn't "bleeding heart liberal douchebags" who oppose raising taxes for things like infrastucture. I also recall it was under Republican leadership that the MBTA was saddled with debt from the Big Dig ("forward funding").
Cripes.
I'm sorry, What?
As a thinking human being, as well as a liberal who works my ass off to make my student loan payment every month, and fully supports high taxes because I like living in a safe and thriving country, with a strong infrastructure and public transportation system, I take issue with your bizarre rant.
Because I don't pretend to know how the funding of the T works, I won't present my theories on how best to increase funding. But I doubt they will take donations...
That said, I'd gladly pay more than $59 for my monthly T-pass if it meant some improvement in service.
And just perhaps adding service to an under-served suburb will pay for itself with increased ridership, you don't think they might be running some sort of cost benefit analysis of this?
Also, I ran 5 miles on Sunday (I'm not fat, and neither are most of the people on my morning commute), but I think I've earned the privilege to take a subway 3 miles across the city to work rather than walk. And it would make my morning that much better if I could rely on this service to get me there in a reasonable amount of time.

... thy name is Anon (not verified)
Next time you want to pull a fact-free, stupid-flavored rant, try owning it? Then we can know specifically which pseudonymous lamer is avoiding reality or backing up his bull with "conservapedia" references.
mental feebleness and poor education
So, explain to me how simply posting anonymous is worse than a logical fallacy?
Among other things, our country has a strong tradition of anonymous commentary. Even people like Samuel Clemens felt it necessary to use a pen name and be semi-anonymous.
Anonymous commentary is so important that anonymous speech is constitutionally protected and considered a fundamental part of the first amendment. Justice Stevens:
I just put on "Battle Hymn of the Republic" as I read that
When I read things like "bleeding heart liberal douchebags" and "you people suck", my first thought too was of the Federalist Papers and the grand tradition of American discourse.
Not bothering to read
Not bothering to read what you respond to is protected as well. If you had, you would understand the issue. I (obviously) have no problem with pseudonymous commentary.
When someone drive-by posts such idiotic blather, there is clearly NO intent to discuss since one can never tell which of the responding anons are which. This person is a coward who isn't interested in learning anything. If they were, they would at least construct a consistent pseud and use it for discussion of their rant.
Like I said RTFC ...
Oh, I'd be happy to vote to
Oh, I'd be happy to vote to increase taxes. I'd like to see the MA income tax become more progressive, with higher tax rates for people with higher taxable incomes. I'd like to see higher federal income taxes (particularly for capital gains and high taxable incomes) as well. And I'd like the MBTA to be funded almost entirely out of the state and federal general funds, while fares are reduced so as to increase ridership. Sales taxes are a bad idea anyway, being regressive, and it was a bad idea to make the MBTA rely on it.
I'd also like to see the T expand in a big way. I'm not opposed to the Somerville Green Line extension, but there are better ideas floating around out there. The Green Line, though, that's not changing anytime soon. The tunnels -- particularly between Arlington and Haymarket -- are pretty much stuck as they are, and there's nothing wrong with running trolleys on Comm. Av., Beacon St., and Huntington Av. Hell, we need more trolleys and more trolley infrastructure. Removing a lane of traffic or parking along Comm. Av. or Beacon St. so as to put in a third track for express trains would be a great help.
Wow.
What an angry dude.
Right on! im sure it was
Right on! im sure it was seriously awkward most of the time considering this is boston. try calling people out to their face on being lame, youd be surprised by the results
