Lowell man charged with numerous car break-ins at Museum of Science

State Police report arresting Ryan Parrott, 24, this morning, following a chase across O'Brien Highway that involved a helicopter and a police dog.

Museum security guards called the nearby State Police barracks shortly before 11 a.m. to report they were chasing a suspect, according to a State Police statement:

At 10:59 a.m. troopers observed the man leaving the parking garage and running across Monsignor O'Brien Highway and the MBTA station viaduct. Troopers continued to chase him on foot behind the Museum Towers condominiums and into the Department of Conservation and Recreation labor yard on Industrial Park Road. After a brief struggle, troopers took the man into custody.

Parrott was taken to Mass. General with what might have been a heroin overdose. He will be arraigned on a variety of charges once doctors clear him.

State Police add:

Troopers recovered, from a plastic bag he dropped while running out of the garage, multiple forms of identification belonging to a 61-year-old man. Additionally, from a backpack he dropped near the spot of his arrest, troopers recovered a Nintendo DS and an IPOD. In trying to determine the owner of the devices, troopers turned on the IPOD and found thousands of photos of a family. They are in the process of trying to locate the owners of these devices.

Innocent, etc.
