UPDATE: The Globe reports the woman, 80, died Sunday night.
Crowds are growing along the Red Line as riders queue up for promised shuttle buses after the line was shut down around 4 p.m. due to a woman getting hit by a train at Kendall station.
Katy Radoll tweeted:
Evacuated from train in Kendall. Conductor said "someone might be under it". Very terrified faces on the platform.
MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo says:
A woman was on the tracks when a train came into the station. She did not fall. She was not pushed. Contact was made. Injured party removed.
She was taken to Mass. General.
This was the second time this month a Red Line train hit somebody.

Prompt notice from the T ??

I was at Park Street when this happened. The T was quick to announce that there were delays due to a "medical incident" on the southbound side of Kendall. A few minutes later (4:05), they announced that all Red line service was suspended. I caught the Green Line to the #1 bus to get home.
But I notice that the T only updated their web site for the bustitution at 4:43. Before that, it was saying there were "minor delays at Park Street due to a medical emergency." I wonder why it takes them so long to update the web site when these things happen. You would imagine that the folks in the central control room could do this in a few moments.
Sounds like she was either

Sounds like she was either walking on it or lying on it. I'm guessing either alcohol/drugs were involved, or it was a suicide attempt. Either way it's very sad and I hope she gets the help she needs.

It happened right in front of me. She was not intoxicated!
She was a grandmother with her 20ish year old sun who went into frenzy trying to do something... poor woman.
She was hit by the T, then caught under the it, serious injuries (leg cut off)
I wish she survives.
What did you see?

Did she walk off the platform? Fall off the platform? Did someone push her (accidentally or on purpose) off the platform?
Thank you

Thank you for your post. This woman was my great aunt and she didn't even like to take Motrin. For someone to make assumptions like such, disgusts me.
So sorry for your loss

Anyone speculating here clearly didn't know your aunt. May she rest in peace.
My sympathies.
Apparently did not survive

I was there. Train pulled in 3/4 way into the station and stopped. Engineer destraught, and a guy speaking in Spanish to the lady down on the track. I heard her speak in Spanish, clearly and calmly. It took 8-10 minutes for help to arrive.
