Walsh in charge: Local construction honcho loses job due to Menino ties
By adamg on Fri, 06/06/2014 - 12:04pm
The Globe reports on why Suffolk Construction, which did nicely on local projects when Tom Menino was mayor, ditched a former Menino aide as a VP. Probably didn't help the guy worked hard for Charlotte Golar Richie in last year's campaign.

Best. Political. Reporter. Ever.
Andrea Estes, who basically gave us Sal Dimasi's head on a platter in similar fashion, is perhaps the best political reporter in town, in any media.
This article is inside baseball for the rest of us. Perfect.
Sacrificial lamb
I doubt John Fish decided to do this on his own. I wonder who in the administration told him the price of doing business in town was sacrificing a Menino loyalist.
Same thuggery, different targets. So much for doing things differently, Mr Mayor.
Well I suspect that the Welsh
Well I suspect that the Welsh guy has a wrongful termination case against the construction company and the Walsh administration....age discrimination, emotional distress, contractual interference...wouldn't want to be the guy who talked to the press.
The guy is somebody's dad, husband, brother, son. Why do people gloat when these things happen?
Why?
Umm... because we don't like corruption? Was that a trick question? Did I miss something?
Suffolk Construction
Walsh just can not get the union out of him ( all the construction trades that are union hate Suffolk, because they hire nonunion as well ) ouch! Great news guys! the 27 laborers from Walsh's hall that came by my house election week, looks like you will be working after all, now that he got rid of him, who is next?
There's a name for this ...
Peter Welsh got Spray Painted ...
There is a lot more
Menino stooges who should get the boot. It took 20 years to make up this collection, it shouldn't take that long to axe them.
It will be interesting to see
It will be interesting to see who Fish hires to replace Welsh. I was at an event where Fish and the Mayor both spoke and Fish couldn't have tried any harder to curry favor with the new Mayor, in his remarks and when they were sitting together afterwards. Fish was leaning in so close, it looked like he was trying to sit on Marty's lap! In any event, I hope Welsh was compensated well by Fish on the way out, he certainly helped Fish became even more successful than be already was. In that business I guess you're only as valuable as who you know.
Something's Fishy Here...
Something smells fishy here... I can't imagine that Walsh would blackball a guy for supporting Richie, who endorsed and campaigned with him. Also makes the Mayor look bad, so doubtful that this came from a real insider/friend of his. Sounds like someone had an ax to grind with Welsh and played Andrea to get him out.
Would be very interesting to find out who the source was who said Walsh wouldn't work with Welsh. That could shed a lot of light on this.... Either way, sounds pretty bad for Fish. Can't imagine the Mayor is happy about this, and Welsh has every right to stick it to him for wrongful termination.
Definitely sounds like there's more for Andrea/others to follow up on.
