Convicted West Roxbury scammer has two more years added to his prison time
Steven Pallidino, already serving a 10-to-12-year state prison sentence for defrauding investors through a Ponzi scheme he ran from the floor above his West Roxbury ice-cream shop, will now go from state prison to a two-year stay in a federal prison for violating court orders in the civil case the SEC brought against him for the scheme, the US Attorney's office reports.
Palladino, his wife Lori and their son Gregory all pleaded guilty in state court last year to charges their Viking Financial Group defrauded investors of several million dollars through an investment scheme in which they promised large returns on loans the company was making.
Gregory got two years in county jail; Lori got a five-year suspended sentence. The family lost their iScream shop on Centre Street.
Federal District Court Judge Douglas Woodlock today imposed a two-year prison sentence on Steven Palladino - and ordered that it would start only at the end of his state sentence.
The sentence is punishment for the 25 federal counts the US Attorney's office brought against Steven Palladino last year for continuing to spend like nobody's business even after the SEC went to court to try to stop the hemorrhaging of money from Viking's client accounts.
A judge agreed with an SEC request to freeze Viking's assets but, the feds charged, Palladino got new credit-card accounts with Bank of America and Citibank, which he used for, among other things, meals at Strega restaurants in the North End and at Smith and Wollensky and purchases at Barney's, Bloomingdale's and Mercedes Benz of Westwood. He allegedly spent $4,170 to buy coins at a collectibles shop as well.

Did someone else take over the iScream shop?
The space has been taken over
The space has been taken over by El Recreo Coffee. It's a great addition to the neighborhood.
