Benjamin CL reports on the fog layer that made half the Hancock and most of the downtown skyline disappear, at least as seen from Wollaston Beach late this afternoon.
Most of the day, the strong heating of the sun caused air to rise inland, and the cooler, denser air was able to flow a couple of miles inland, keeping a stubborn sea breeze blowing along the near reaches of the shore, meaning it was 54 at the airport and 77 in Bedford. Once the sun started to go down around 5, the heating inland diminished, and there seabreeze was overcome by the southwesterly breeze, and Boston shot up from 54 to the low 70s.
It's still in the 50s on both Capes (Ann and Cod) and the South Coast. Happy spring!
