It wouldn't have helped this situation since the southbound Museum of Science bridge was jammed. But I've been suggesting for a while that this intersection would be helped greatly if there was a left turn lane for westbound traffic coming off the Gilmore Bridge, so eastbound and westbound traffic wouldn't need separate green lights.
If traffic wasn't so bad, it would make commuter buses more viable for the thousands of people working at all the new office buildings in Kendall Square and North Point.
