City on turkeys: Chill out, people
By adamg on Mon, 04/04/2016 - 7:16am
At least some people are taking to contacting 311 when they spot a turkey these days. A couple days ago, the city responded to a 311 report about a turkey just walking around Glide Street in Dorchester:
Turkeys are natural to the City of Boston. If there are no injuries to the turkey, just ensure to stay out of its way.
At press time, the city had yet to respond to a complaint about a wild turkey running down Appleton St in the South End.

If only Brookline was as enlightened of the natural rights of indigenous fowl.
I find no value in the city's response.
Just the sort of thing I'd expect from a bunch of turkeys.
Yes, why is city not at DefCon1 re scary big birds?!
When in danger,
When in doubt,
Run in circles
Scream and shout!
(btw, we have two jakes (young males) wandering around the neighborhood today. The smaller was all agobble for a while when his big bro hopped over a chain link fence and he couldn't figure out how to follow him. A bunch of people walked right by him without even noticing as he paced back and forth along the fence making sad "hey bro!' sounds in Turkyish.)
So...
...maybe fewer posts about the latest urban turkey sighting? Or is the topic not sufficiently stale for you?
I love wildlife in the city
But that doesn't mean we should let them win. Brookline was being terrorized, do we have to wait until this happens? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBa_ZjO223A
Have you ever stopped to wonder ...
Why it is that only Brookline seems to consistently have turkey problems? Maybe it's not the turkeys.
No it's turkeys
in Brookline causing all of the problem, just not the turkeys of the avian kind.
I think it’s the people there acting subordinate to the birds
That won’t happen in rough and tumble West Roxbury.
I saw a squirrel today...
I saw a squirrel today... Where do I report it?
Please don't make the situation worse
It's already Badenov.
Saw one on State Street in front of Al's last night
I seemed to be the only one not busting out my phone, because, well, whatever, it's a turkey. Yea it's not Brookline, so that was a bit curious. Tried to stay out of its way
Please make sure you post
Please make sure you post Turkey sighting when hunting season begins later this month. Will make things much easier.
